How to choose a marine BBQ

Date: 28-10-2016

When choosing a stainless steel BBQ for your boat there are a number of things to consider.

Is your BBQ the right grade of stainless steel?

You can buy stainless steel BBQs for a number of different purposes. BUT if it is not the right grade of stainless steel it will rust.

We recommend buying a BBQ that is made from 316 stainless steel. This is a marine grade stainless steel and does not get affected by the salt.

NOTE: Marine BBQs are great for apartment balconies or small outdoor areas in coastal areas. The salt in the air can corrode other BBQs.

What other features should you look for?

Do your sausages roll off the side of your BBQ when your boat goes over a wave? Make sure you BBQ plate has a side on it to prevent them from rolling. You can also get a BBQ that has wind guards, this will stop the wind from messing with your cooking and in some cases can stop grease from splattering on your boat.

Other great features are a lockable lid for easy transportation, a removable plate for easy cleaning, a removable fat tray – and a sealed base compartment so nothing drips onto your boat. Also a double skinned base compartment so the outside doesn’t get hot.
